IE8-10 – Ending MS Support
On January 12, 2016, Microsoft ended support for versions 10 and earlier of the Internet Explorer browser:
"Beginning January 12, 2016, only the most current version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical supports and security updates."
For more information, please see their full statement.
Currently that is version 11. Please note, the Army FRG System will still work with previous versions of Internet Explorer. If you have not upgraded your browser to IE 11, you will still be able to use Army FRG. This notice is only that Microsoft will not be making any security enhancements to IE 10 or earlier.
If you are using Windows 10, you may have noticed the new Edge browser. This browser has not been tested against Army FRG and we cannot guarantee compatibility with all areas of Army FRG. However, Windows 10 also comes with Internet Explorer 11 so you should still be able to fully utilize the Army FRG System with Windows 10.

Facebook Security Risks and FRG's Solution
Many Army Units utilize Facebook to establish a Unit Facebook page or group in order to communicate with Unit Soldiers and Family Members. Although Facebook gives the appearance of being a secure place to share information due to the ability to restrict access to only approved users and other access restrictions, Facebook is inherently unsecure and constantly changes its access rules and policies. All information and photos posted on Facebook can be exposed to the entire Facebook community at any time. Facebook is not a secure portal and many instances have been reported regarding inappropriate comments made by Facebook users that are often exposed to the entire Facebook community.
Although Facebook may not be secure, it is still a good idea to establish a Unit Facebook page due its popularity and the frequency that users sign in to Facebook. For this reason, Facebook has been integrated into Army FRG and FRG Administrators are able to associate the Unit's Facebook page with the Unit's Army FRG site. Subscribers to the Unit's Army FRG site will then be able to switch to a Facebook tab that allows them to see the Unit's Facebook wall from within Army FRG.
Furthermore, FRG Administrators are able to post to the Unit's Facebook wall from within Army FRG and link Army FRG content to the Facebook posts. When an FRG Administrator posts Army FRG content to the Unit's Facebook wall, the content is not actually posted on the Facebook wall, but rather a comment about the content is posted and then a link to the Army FRG content is also posted on the Facebook wall. Facebook users will be able to click on the link within Facebook and then will need to login to Army FRG to access the content. They will need to be subscribers to the Unit's Army FRG site, thereby maintaining the security of the content and ensuring that only the appropriate people are able to access the content.
