Army FRG Overview

The Army Family Readiness Group (Army FRG) website provides a secure environment in which information, resources, and support are available to Soldiers and their Family Members 24 hours a day, regardless of their geographic location.  A unit’s virtual FRG site or vFRG promotes a community feeling within Army units by providing a place that is customized to the unit and contains content that is controlled by the unit.  Army FRG provides all of the functionality of a traditional FRG in an ad-hoc and on-line setting to meet the needs of geographically dispersed units and families across all components of the Army.  Army FRG is a Commander’s tool that allows them to communicate directly to Soldiers and Family Members.   Unit vFRG sites can be accessed any time to view information and photos, read stories, ask questions, participate in Forums, and much more.  The creation of a unit's vFRG site involves no cost to the unit and includes training and support using a variety of methods.  It is easy to get started and a new vFRG site can be created for an Army unit in a matter of days!

To apply for a new vFRG site, simply click on the Create an FRG button at the top of the page.  In order to create a vFRG site for a unit, you must certify that you are a Commander or a Commander’s delegate.  You must then enter information about the unit, the unit’s Commander, and the FRG Administrator.  Once submitted, the site must be confirmed by the Commander and approved by FMWRC.  Finally, the FRG Administrator will upload the minimum content requirements and the site will be released.

To subscribe to a unit’s vFRG site as a Soldier or Family Member, click on the Find an FRG button at the top of the page.  If you already have a user name and password, you should log in first and then join the FRG.  If you are subscribing as a Soldier, you will need to provide information about yourself including your name and last four digits of your Social Security Number.  If the data you enter matches with the data in the unit’s Soldier database, you will immediately become a subscriber and be granted access to the site.  If you are subscribing as a Family Member, you will enter your information and the information regarding your “Soldier of Interest”.  If the data you enter matches a Soldier within the unit’s Soldier database, and you are on the Soldier’s Sponsor List, you will immediately become a subscriber and be granted access to the site.  If the Soldier data does not match, you can easily contact the FRG Administrator of the site or Technical Support by clicking on the Contact Us link at the top and bottom of every page.
